LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman is dead after being hit by a car in downtown Lexington.

According to the Fayette County Coroner, 59-year-old Donna Purcell was killed.

The hit-and-run crash happened in the area of West High Street and South Broadway around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27. Police say she was struck while in the crosswalk with the right-of-way.

According to the coroner’s report, Purcell suffered multiple blunt force injuries when she was hit. She died at UK Hospital.

Facebook messages about Purcell’s passing seem to indicate she was visiting from out of state. Police have not yet confirmed this, or why she was in town.

The Lexington Police Department described the vehicle they say hit Purcell as a four-door Chevy passenger car, possibly a Malibu or Cruze. The front left wheel has a different type of rim, and the front end has moderate damage, according to police.

Police released a picture of the suspect vehicle and are working to identify a suspect and passengers.
