Lafayette softball defeats Lexington Catholic to win the 11th Region Championship

The title is the first for the Lady Generals’ program in ten years.

Berea, Ky. (WKYT) - Lafayette defeated Lexington Catholic 2-0 Tuesday night to claim the 11th Region championship.

The title is the first for the Lady Generals’ program in ten years.

The Lady Generals scored their first run on an RBI single by Natalie Henry in the third inning to make it 1-0. In the fifth inning, Rylie Grantz delivered an RBI single to left to score another run. Lafayette pitcher Trinity Bridges was outstanding in the circle, pitching a complete-game shutout.

Lafayette now advances to the State Tournament to face the winner of the 13th Region, Friday at 5 p.m. at John Cropp Stadium.
