Woman sentenced for Lexington police chase crash that killed 3 people
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman has been sentenced for a crash that killed three people in Lexington.
Earlier this year, Tammy Rodriguez pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter.
In 2019, she led police on a chase that ended in a crash on I-75. Police say Rodriguez was being pursued by Winchester police and Clark County deputies when the chase entered Fayette County, where she drove the wrong way on I-75.
The pursuit ended when Rodriguez hit two vehicles. Three people died, including Rodriguez’s own sister.
Thursday morning, the judge accepted the prosecution’s recommendation that Rodriguez receive a 20-year sentence for each of the two murder charges. The murder charges will run consecutively, while the other charges will run concurrently for a total of 40 years in prison.
She’ll be eligible for parole after 20 years.
