This story from the WKYT Archives originally aired on September 10, 2007. Reporter Mark Kennedy interviewed convicted killer and death row inmate Ralph Baze, 15 days before Baze was scheduled to be executed. The looming execution was later stayed, and Baze is still on death row as Kentucky works out legal challenges to its protocols. Baze, now 67, was convicted in 1994 for shooting and killing Powell County Sheriff Steve Bennett and Deputy Arthur Briscoe in the line of duty on January 30, 1992.
